George Tucker: A Clear Choice

George Tucker For President

My priorities are clear:

  • Improve and protect our hard-won contract gains and benefits
  • Strengthen your safety and protection
  • Advance and promote the value and contribution of all TPA members

Building on the achievements of my past six years on the Board of the TPA I am
best positioned to execute the TPA motto “we protect those who protect others.”

Why This Election is So Important

Unprecedented tough economic times are making it more difficult to protect, defend and advance
our members’ interests

In the next round of contract negotiations, it will be more challenging than ever
to protect the hard won gains and benefits from the previous two contracts

Next year is a municipal election and we must ensure that officials
respect and value the contributions of all TPA members

It’s critically important to maintain and strengthen the strong public
confidence that we built over the last 6 years

Experienced & Professional Leadership is Required

Our members require a President who:

  • is experienced and has been at the table negotiating on their behalf for the past
  • 6 years – now is not the time to provide “on the job training” to anyone
who has not been continuously active on behalf of our members
  • is trusted and has a reputation of maintaining confidentiality and is
thereby invited to the negotiating table
  • is inclusive of all of our members — both uniformed and non-uniformed
  • has a respected relationship with senior command
  • has a reputable relationship with municipal, provincial and
federal levels of government – a professional who is known
    and knows pivotal people
  • has a credible track record of effectively and professionally
    representing our members’ interests.

What Can You Expect From a Team I Lead?

A team that:

  • appreciates, advances and promotes the value and contribution of all TPA members
  • is decisive, effective and has a unified approach to achieve
    successful resolutions
  • has a well-coordinated strategy to build on the gains and
momentum of the previous 6 years
  • actively seeks our members’ feedback on issues that
    matter to them
  • protects our members and advances their benefits
    and compensation

A Clear Choice – Your Support Can Protect Your Future

The TPA is the organization through which our members are perceived by the public and government
officials. Maintaining and growing strong public /government support and understanding is critical
to the strength of the TPA and its ability to achieve positive resolutions to the critical
matters that affect our members.

Through your direct action of electing credible and reputable TPA representatives,
you ensure your voice will be heard on these important matters.

By electing the right people to represent our members, you ensure your
TPA reps will be invited to sit at the negotiating table.

Your choice is clear – as your President, I would have the qualifications,
the experience and the commitment to lead a winning team that
is best positioned to protect your interests.

Forward

Experienced

I have a successful track record; I have been on the Toronto Police Association Board for 6 years and have earned a reputation of strongly advocating on behalf of our members in an effective, professional manner.

In addition to my TPA Board tenure, I have 24 years of front-line policing experience -- a total of 30 years service to our members and the people of Toronto.

Trusted

I already have established good relations with varying levels of government. I know I can improve and strengthen those relationships. I believe professional, responsible people can always work through issues and find some common ground. Trusted, open communication is critical; it will ensure the TPA always has the opportunity to present our members’ concerns, the credibility for those concerns to be considered and the mutual respect for successful resolution.

Committed

I take great pride in having spent the better part of my career assisting many of our members, both uniformed and non-uniformed. For the past six years I have worked as a member of your Board at the TPA. As a team, on behalf of our members, we put together a successful game plan for our organization to advance to a new level in order to better protect and defend our membership. Now it’s time to implement this plan and it will require insightful, professional and skilled leadership
